What is Text an Ambassador?

Text an Ambassador is a free conference service offered by ALA, Mosio's Text a Librarian and the helpful volunteer Ambassadors at ALA Annual in Chicago. Text an Ambassador provides instant access to all the conference information you need no matter where you are. You text your question from your phone. An Ambassador will answer. It's that easy.

How much does it cost?

Text an Ambassador is FREE. Standard text message rates from your phone carrier apply.

How does it work?

All you need is a cell phone and the ability to send a text message. No mobile web, data plan or downloading necessary. Go ahead... Try it now!

  1. Compose a new SMS/Text message on your phone to 66746.
  2. Type the keyword ALA in your message.
  3. Send. [You will receive an auto-response]
  4. Save 66746 in your phone contacts as "ALA Info" for use at the conference.

Now that you have saved Text an Ambassador in your phone, simply text new questions during the conference. Ask a new question with an entirely new text message starting with keyword ALA. See image to the right.

When can I ask?

You can ask questions any time of the day, however, answers will be provided during regular conference hours when the Ambassador desks are staffed. If you ask a question after conference hours, you will receive an answer the following day.

9:00 a.m. — 5:00 p.m.

Tuesday, July 14th
9:00 a.m. — 2:00 p.m.
